Google introduces News Performance Report to the Search Console

News publishers can now track their content visibility on Google News.

Yesterday, Google launched the news performance report to the search console to help news publishers better understand user behavior on Google News, both Android and iOS apps, as well as on news.google.com.

How do you check your News Performance?

This report will appear for any site that appears on Google News. The performance report is similar to the search, and discover report. You can analyze the Clicks, Impressions, and CTR segmented by pages, countries and devices.

Earlier, publishers had to get listed on the Publisher Center to get their content on Google News. That is not the case anymore, if the content meets the quality standards of Google, they appear on Google News.

If you don’t see this tab on the search console report, it means that either the roll-out is not completed or your stories are not listed frequently on Google News. In the case of the latter, you might want to work on your content to get indexed on Google News.

The beauty of this report is that publishers can analyze the performance of their content on Google News and work towards improving their content.
